Important note - this is a 1.6 engine. maybe someone else will miss this important detail... for a 1.4 the part looks a lot different, albeit it is in the same position. it is also easier to get to, than this one. thanks for the video, i'm really loving this series.
Thanks very much for this tutorial it’s excellent. One question I had is how on earth can the clip at the back be put back on due to limited space. The best solution I can come up with is using 2 pairs of 45 degree bent needle nose pliers then feed the clip up with 1 pair and attempt to lower it using both pairs. Looks a horrific job though as I cant even get my fingers in. Do you guys have any further ideas how this can be done?? Thanks.
If you are struggling with the back pipe, heres how i did it; I first disconnected the other pipes, battery and electric connections of the thermostat. Spray some oil on the difficult connection hose and wiggle with the housing so the oil spreads. Then i used a strap rope with hooks and put it under tension ( i hooked it up at the hose connection point that goes to the air heater) and i got the hooks locked on the front chassis. Put it under tension, then get a crowbar and use that on the front side of the thermostate housing. Build up the tension and you will get it out, hopefully. Good luck
Hi, I have a couple of questions. Is the engine running when you bleed the thermostat housing? Is the lid supposed to be off of the coolant overflow? He puts the lid on, but it looks like it's off when the bleed is happening.
Reading the Haynes manual it says I need to remove the thermostat to flush the engine coolant. Watching this video, I’m not keen. Can it be done without?

I had a leak on Peugeot 308 1.4 70kw from 2008. It was caused by cracked thermostat housing. Thermostat housing seems to be manufactured from two parts connected together, so it was leaking in the point of connection of one part to second. I found the leak by pressurizing system by drilling hole into reservoir cap and inserting/glueing in valve from bicycle inner tube. Then pressurizing to 1-2 bars (pay attention here not to destroy something with overpressurizing) When choosing replacement pay attention to number of thermostat inputs/outputs. Basically there should be one input and one output for front cooler. One input and output for cabin cooler. One hose to engine. And if the car has intercooler for turbo or for cooling something else, then there is additional input/output.
Hi, looking at this video one could imagine it looks very simple but for having changed the thermostat on 2 Peugeot 308, 1.6 VTI 120hp (2011), I can tell you that it is much more difficult than shown in the video. The access is relatively restricted and especially putting the locking clip on the water pipe (the one connecting the thermostat to the water pipe at the backside of the engine) is very tricky and may need 2mins or several hours ! And I consider myself not as a beginner as maintaining all my cars for some 45 years now... The designers of his engine should be ashamed for having created such non reliable parts. Even worse, the replacement parts might not be much more reliable and might leak again after a couple of years !
Our video for acquaintance and of course the replacement can be individual for each, depending on the complexity of the situation. Thank you for your comment. Every experience is important to us. AUTODOC
I can only agree. I've actually removed the entire inlet, removed the engine supports so the engine could be tilted forward so there's "some kind of" access. It was leaking like crazy, and it was just the clip that was missing. Just that single clip took me multiple hours. Really bad design, especially since it's not accessible from below either, so even a car lift isn't going to help.
Hi..I just finish removing the thermostat housing now but there is a slight difference between the old and the new part I bought. There is one extra pipe on the new part. Is it still going to work or water will escape from the extra pipe opening?
I've had mine recently replaced but the problem still occurs the leak could actually be worse now it can take around a week to 2 weeks to go below minimum while before replacing would usually take around 2/4 months what would you recommend.
Thanks so much for sharing. My AC is not cold all the sudden and the fan is on all the time and temperature gauge is high eventhough engine is only warm.
This is a screw for bleeding air from the cooling system, after unscrewing it, air comes out of the system and is filled with antifreeze, so the level in the tank drops.
Just about to do one on my sister in laws 2014 308, for my particular model it had only one 4 wire plug, and the replacement had two separate plugs, but it turns out there is a wiring loom update so now im in business.
I have the turbo 207 and the temperature gauge sits at maximum gauge temperature when the engine is cold . And the thermo fan wont turn on at all , I'm guessing that this multiple sensor thermostat is my issue.

I have a 1.4, I'm wanting to change coolant sensor, so would I just follow the first steps?
How does the one for 1.4 look like?.. please help

Yes run the engine - will bleed the air much quicker and have the lid off the expansion tank.

That clip.!! 4 hours. !!!
1.5 hours here
No wonder why my mechanic just charged £150 to do this he said its a nightmare of a job
Informative and easy to follow

Water will piss out like a drunk person who's just gone to the toilet.

I swear manufacturers must design things in such a way as to maximise the labour charge when they inevitably need replaced!
Excellent video. Thankyou 👍🏽

I am doing a thermostat and timing chain on a 2011 Mini Cooper, it’s neat to see and compare
We are glad that you enjoy our work!
Thank you
Have you got a video for the coolant pipe that runs along the back of the engine off the water pump
Unfortunately, there is no such a video.
I feel your pain. Day 2 on trying to get that sucker off
can you tell me if it is possible to change a broke water pump hose without taking out the full engine?
We do not have such information, we recommend that you consult your mechanic.
Yes it is as long as it is not the engine shown in the video. Peugeot are and always have been terrible at designing engines.
This Guy is Obviously a Professional so their is no need to Scrap The Car after this Job....!🤑😂😇
What is the total working time for this repair?
We cannot tell you for sure.
Hello, I'm have peugeot 207 1.4 2006, and have 95-100 C in towen when drive. I's ok this temperatur?
We do not have such information, we recommend that you consult your mechanic.
Little high me thinks. Would be worth getting a diagnosis. Should run at around 90 degrees
if you also remove the battery box, you have a little more space
porque se gira el tornillo negro al final y baja el agua del deposito de refrigerante?

How many time it took please? Thank you
Unfortunately, it is not possible to specify the hours for this job.
Happy New Year!

I did one yesterday and it took me around 2-3 hours
Undoing the screw at the end was that to bleed the system? I didn't see that step.
At 09:33, you can see the screw loosening.
Will this be the same process for the Citroen DS3 1.6thp?
Unfortunately, we do not have such information, we recommend that you consult with a mechanic at the service of your car.

Nice one, thanks

Hi trying to change my thermostat and it's stuck at the pin connection to the engine bay, any tips to get it to release
Unfortunately, it is difficult to say anything, we recommend contacting the service.
Silicone spray and a plastic clip removal tool
Was the engine running when bleeding it ?
When draining the fluid, the engine is turned off.

Great video, autodoc, you need to specify the engine type, it looks like a TU engine, it is different on others 207 engines
Thank you for your comment, we will certainly take into account your wishes when shooting a new video.
This is a Prince engine, the TU looks very different
Exelente
Its a hell of a job to get that hose in behind the engine
Completely agree with you, the work is not easy
Can it all be done from the engine bay or is a ramp needed?
wow did the owner regularly drive through the sahara?
What we're the reasons for changing it
The replacement of the item take place due to failure and incorrect operation of the item or car itself.
pointless dont even attempt that spring clip is impossible to get in
If you make a video whith a diesel engine will be more useful
